Luke Races at Brands Hatch Indy

Luke Hedger competes this weekend at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in Kent. Being one of his favourite circuits on the racing calendar Luke was hoping to put the disappointment of Donnington Park behind him.

Things didn’t start off to well for the youngest crashing out after just 3 laps of free practice 1. He was approaching a couple of slower riders on a drying track when his front wheel hit a damp patch which caused him to lose the front end and crashed, thankfully it was a slow crash that didn’t really cause much damage. Free practice 2 went much better, he was constantly in the top ten and setting some very consistent times, proving he had good race pace, he ended his session in 10th place.

Qualifying started off well Luke was in the top 5 for the first 10 minutes, he popped in pit land to change a couple of thing and by this point had dropped down the order to 17th being such a short circuit, one of the shortest on the calendar, Luke struggled to find any free space and therefore couldn’t put a clear lap together without traffic. He managed to make a couple places up but had to start Saturday afternoon’s race from 15th place.

As the first race got under way Luke found himself down in 19th position after a bad start, but he kept a cool head and gradually start to progress though the field. He managed to get up to 12th place and on the back of the next pack but just didn’t have enough laps left to go any further. Luke was happy with his result in the end, and his lap time during the race means he will start Sunday’s race from 10th position

For race 2 Luke took his place on the grid in 9th place he was confident from there he could run with the front pack, but Luke fluffed the start he is having trouble with the lunch control on the BMW, so it is making his starts difficult.

He finished race 2 in 12th place

Luke said “I am a little disappointed with these results I am having trouble getting used to the lunch control, but the PR Racing Bowker BMW team have been so supportive, and I know once I get this sorted I will be able to repay them with some top results. Also, I would like to thank everyone that has supported and sponsored me this year. We are working hard to get over these issues.”

I would like to thank my supporters PRRacing, Bowker BMWMist Safety UK Ltd,HJC Helmets Daytona Boots,RTR2 Leathers, Full Throttle Racing, Dave Siney, JC Cook Cycles, Connect Racing Parts and RRPS.   we will be back stronger at Brands”.

Join Club #22 has been set up to help raise funds for Luke, making his dreams a reality.
