Disappointing end to a wet weekend for Hedger and the PRRacing Bowker BMW race team.

We all knew this was going to be a bad weekend weather wise and as predicted it was a shocker freezing cold wet condition made it a difficult weekend for all involved, to the degree of some warm ups and races being cancelled, both of Hedger’s race did go ahead.

The practice session went really well the bike felt ok but Hedger was having a few problems with the bike set up Hedger and the team are new to each other and this could just be down to getting to know each other and what Hedger’s needs are, the first session was ok.

Thing we’re much better in the 2nd free practice the bike felt much better and Hedger set some pretty good times setting 4th fastest lap.

For qualifying the conditions had change slightly it was so hard to get the right set up and unfortunately it wasn’t quite right so he finished down in 17th place for his first race of the year

Hedger was going to have a tough first race starting from 17th,he got a good start and settled down, getting into a good rhythm by mid-way point he had made up 4 places and was clearly quicker that the few racers in front of him he managed to catch them and gain a couple more positions before the end of part one finishing in 10th place.

So after a frantic 10 minutes in pit line  for tyre changes and refuelling all the rides set of for part 2, Hedger got a brilliant start of the line finding himself in 6th spot but there was clearly something wrong with -in the first lap he found him self right back down to 16th place he managed to keep this spot but it was a very tough race for young hedger.

Later that day the team investigated and found that the front wheel that was put on in the 10-minute break had a warped disc making the bike extremely hard to turn.

Mondays feature race nearly didn’t go ahead the weather conditions we’re so bad it took the circuit organizers all morning to get it safe enough for racing to go ahead. All warm up had to be cancelled and a couple of the races postponed   but thankfully Hedger’s was still to go ahead.

Hedger had to start down in 17th position which again was going be difficult for him. He had a shocking start dropping 3 places, he did manage to regain a few places back but by this point the other riders we’re just too far in front of Hedger to do anything about it.

Luke said “This wasn’t how I imagined this weekend was going to go but considering the weather conditions I’ll take 2 finishes. Me and the team have been working well together at the test and I was hoping to get so better results for them I’m gutted not just for myself but everyone at PRRacing Bowker BMW, we have all been working so hard. Massive thanks to the boys who worked no stop all weekend also to the marshals that braved the conditions to keep us all safe. On the up side we take away so good data and hopefully can build from here. we are at Brands Hatch next which is one of my favourite circuits so hopefully we can

get some much better result. I would just like to say sorry to the team for the disappointing results this weekend.

Huge thankyou to all my sponsors and supporters PRRacing, RRP'S, Mist Safety UK Ltd, Bowker BMW,RRP'S, Mist Safety UK Ltd, HJC Helmets Daytona Boots,RTR2 Leathers, Full Throttle Racing, Dave Siney, JC Cook Cycles and  Connect Racing Parts    we will be back stronger at Brands”.
