The Cadwell Curse Strikes Again.
This weekend ended in disaster yet again at Cadwell Park for Luke but believe it or not Luke loves the circuit it just seems that the circuit doesn't like Luke.
2 years ago when we first joined the BSB series in the British 125's, Luke was racing for the Banks Racing Team, the practice and qualying went really well for the young 15 year old Luke and set him self up for a front row start. but race day ended in disaster on the first lap when he crashed out at the bottom of the mountain, thankfully uninjured but the gear lever had snapped of the bike leaving it unrideable.
Last year Luke now 16 had changed teams and was now riding for FPW Racing in the monster energy motostars championship and unlike the year before practice and qualifying was a complete nightmare with 2 engine siezsure one of these throwing him of the bike quite hard but some how he managed to put himself on pole.In morning warm up on race day he had yet another engine siezsure and the team had to work really hard to get the bike ready in time for the race. but the bad luck hadn't finished with luke just yet as they link up for the start of the race it started to rain luckily he had wet tyres on his bike but the team didn't get enough time to put his bike to it's wet setting so getting a iffy start he ended the first lap in 6th and by the middle of the race he managed to get him self upto 3rd place but no sooner had he done this the red flag came out and they put the results back a lap putting him back to 6th so ended a horribal weekend with an ok result.
This year luke now 17 not only changed teams to the very professional GearLink Kawasaki team but also moved up to the pirelli nation superstock 600 class this year ended much like the first year. he had an awesome practice and 1 qualifying finishing 2nd in the first to sessions.
The times set in qualifying 2 by Luke and his fellow competitor Callan Cooper where identical both of them taking pole 1.31.907
(a dead heat ) which is under the current lap record time so they organizers had to revert back to the next best times putting Luke 2nd on the grid and Callan in pole. Race day ended again very abruptly in lap 1 Luke got pushed wide on the 3rd corner, he hit the curb and lost the front crashing out yet again, but on the up side it's a very fast corner and he was very luck to get away unscathed Luke is still 2nd in the championship but is 17 points behind from the championship leader Jordon Simpkin losing 13 points to Jordon in this round
